TURAS

Spending time in green space or bringing nature into your everyday life can benefit both your mental and physical wellbeing. For example, doing things like growing food or flowers, exercising outdoors or being around animals can have lots of positive effects. Nature has been a source of solace for many, as lockdown rules heightened our appreciation for local parks and green spaces.

The website ‘WalkHighlands’ aims to encourage the enjoyment of walking through being the best information source and social network for walkers in Scotland. In doing so they aim to help the small, local tourism businesses so vital to Scotland’s rural economy.

Their mission is to The ultimate website for walking and hiking in Scotland, with thousands of free detailed OS maps and detailed descriptions for every walk. The website currently does its job but could be improved as is tricky to navigate and looks out of date, discouraging the use of the website.

IDEA

Explore ways to get people involved and immersed in nature and the outdoors.

A main way of doing this will be a rebrand/ image change for ‘WalkHighlands’.

TURAS has a more contemporary visual identity hoping to encourage more people

to the website. The previous website seemed old and outdated, when carrying out research I found this led people away from the valuable information to source it

else where.

The website now functions on both desktop and mobile versions giving you access from wherever as before the mobile version was lacking. TURAS also heavily emphasises that it is for everyone and anyone to enjoy no matter your skill level. There are walks of all grades in Scotland, it’s just about getting out there and enjoying yourself.
